Swiss and Chinese scientists have developed a new way of making the porous TiO2 electrode for solid state dye-sensitized solar cells (ss-DSSCs). The method could be more compatible with large scale manufacturing processes. The team from the Federal Polytechnic School in Lausanne and the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry were
Xiuyan Man Autonomous County in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, was a sleepy little place near the national border until China's first meteor crater was verified. A scientific research team led by Chen Ming, a researcher of Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, eventually explored and verified China's first meteor crater four years after the team was formed, according to Guangzhou Daily.
According to recent research from Changchun, People's Republic of China, "A rapid, templateless, surfactantless, electrochemical route is reported to synthesize uniform and clean Pd nanoparticles (~350 nm in diameter) with a substructure of sharp nanospikes (~95 nm in length).
LOCAL scientists are developing an in-flight wireless entertainment system allowing airline passengers to use cell phones onboard, experts said yesterday. Currently, commercial aircraft use heavy cables for entertainment systems onboard and there are restrictions on cell phones, said officials of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences at Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park.
The universities of St Andrews and Glasgow in Scotland, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun, are collaborating to better understand and improve polymer solar cell lifetimes. The two-phase project starts in March 2011 and ends in August 2013. The data gathered in the project's first phase will inform potential solutions for extending solar cell lifetimes in the latter phase of the project.
