Chinese ecologist MA Keping was elected chair of the top governing body of UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme, becoming the second Chinese scientist to hold the position. The vote took place Thursday Beijing time during the 38th session of the MAB International Coordinating Council, held in Hernandarias, Paraguay. MA, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the CAS Institute of Botany, will serve a term from 2026 to 2028.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Researcher at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of CAS, Prof. WANG Yifang was awarded the ICBS Medal of Basic Sciences in physics for his pioneering contributions to experimental particle physics, together with Prof. Andrea J. Liu and Prof. Xiao-Gang Wen.

Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an emeritus professor at the University of Strasbourg, was awarded the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award of the People’s Republic of China on July 8.

ZHUANG Xiaowei has been named the recipient of the 2026 Dickson Prize in Medicine, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's highest honor. The award recognizes ZHUANG for developing transformational imaging and genomic technologies that have reshaped multiple fields, especially neuroscience and cancer research, and that are now widely used to study tissue organization in health, aging and disease.
