Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), CAS, announced recently the successful assembly and operation of a 214W cell pile comprising 30 monocells.
Under the condition of 80 ℃ and 400mV, the cell pile's electric current density and maximum power density could reach 400mA/cm2 and 190mW/cm2.
The cell pile, as a small-sized battery source, can be applied widely to civilian mobile products such as notebook computers, motion picture cameras, and handsets.
DICP is continuing with the research on electrodes, sealing materials, and cell stacks in an attempt to enhance the performance and reduce the cost of the cell pile. Through accumulating the data, it paves the way for actual application of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell.
