Jacques Blamont Delivers Report on Outer Space Exploration

Dec 31, 2009

Jacques Blamont, a chair professor of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) delivered a report on new methods for exploring outer space in national science library on 28th, December.

Blamont proposed a method to enter the interplanetary space in his report. That is to carry a small-scale interplanetary probe when the geostationary satellite was lanched. This interplanetary probe in geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) will get into the interplanetary at the proper time.

"It is not worthy to start the mission of landing Mars until we take it as an international cooperative program that has political significance. It will be after 2040 when we land the Mars even we take actions soon.” Said Blamont.

Jacques Blamont was granted CAS chair professorship by director WU Ji at the end of the lecture.
