CAS ichthyologists find six new fish species
Through constant explorative efforts in Guangxi, a research team led by YANG Junxing with the CAS Kunming Institute of Zoology and co-workers have discovered six new fish species in succession, of them, 2 belong to Cyprinidae, and 4 belong to Balitoridae:Nemacheilinae.
The new findings include Yunnanilus pulcherrimus Yang, Chen et Lan , Yunnanilus longibarbatus Gan, Chen et Yang , Triplophysa flavicorpus Yang, Chen et Lan, Triplophysa tianeensis Chen, Cui et Yang, Parasinilabeo longiventralis Huang, Chen et Yang, and Parasinilabeo longiventralis Huang, Chen et Yang. The discoveries have been published in Zoological Research in 2004, 2005 and 2007, successively.
Scientists say they are expected that more new findings will be made. And they will be of importance for further understanding the geo-history in the region.
