CAS President Lu Yongxiang made a presentation on challenges and cooperation on issues of S&T ethics at the fourth session of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST), which was held from March 23 to 25 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Set up in 1998 by UNESCO, COMEST is an advisory body and forum to formulate ethical principles for decision-makers. Prof. Lu Yongxiang is one of the 18 independent experts of COMEST.
The following issues were addressed during the session of COMEST: ethics education; environmental ethics; good governance of science and technology; benefit sharing and international cooperation in research; animals and ethics; and human rights and ethics.
