A Schmidt telescope for searching after near-earth objectives (NEO) has been successfully installed at the Xuyi station of the Nanjing-based CAS Purple Mountain Observatory in east China's Jiangsu Province.
With its correcting lens diameter of 1000mm, primary mirror diameter of f1200mm, focal length 1800mm, valid No-halo flied of 3.14 degree and center wavelength of the correcting lens of 656.3nm, the new telescope is characterized with wide view field, ranking fifth in the Schmidt telescopes across the world.
