With the support from CAS and Yunnan Province, a garden for wild ginger plants has been established at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) under CAS.
During the development of the garden, XTBG botanists have collected more than 6,000 individual plants from other regions of the country and foreign countries, including the US, Germany, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Viet Nam and Indonesia. Careful studies have identified about 130 species in 29 genera from the specimens, making the garden the largest in China in terms of number of species it holds.
