With an objective of comprehensively reviewing the historical experience and arranging for the future in terms of talented people development, the conference is a follow-up to the recent national conference on human resources development held by the State Council. It was preluded by the CAS annual work conference in 2004 at the juncture when the pilot project for the Knowledge Innovation Program spearheaded by CAS enters a new stage of "leapfrogging and sustainable development".
The past experience of CAS work on talented people was sorted out at the meeting, and the key tasks in coming years were defined so that the development strategy for the new historical era at the may be mapped out and enforced.
CAS authorities attach great importance to the conference and all the members of the Party's Leading Carder's Group at CAS were present at the conference. CAS President Lu Yongxiang made a speech under the title "Raise CAS innovation capacity in an all-round way by implementing the national strategy for cultivating qualified personnel". CAS Vice-President Bai Chunli delivered a work report, calling for a facelift to be introduced in this aspect through implementation of the gist left by the national conference for personnel work.
Nearly 350 people from 140 CAS-affiliated units attended the meeting, including representatives of the outstanding professionals.
