Prof. Li Jinghai, a chemical engineer, has recently been appointed as CAS Vice-President. Prof. Li graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1982, majoring in thermal engineering, and obtained his doctorial degree from the CAS Institute of Process Engineering (former CAS Institute of Chemical Metallurgy) in 1987. Dr. Li worked as a postdoc at New York City University and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology before returning to China in 1990. He has served as professor, Vice Director and Director of the CAS Institute of Process Engineering, respectively, and elected CAS member in 1999.
