Under the support of the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, a cooperation group of soil and environment was established on Nov. 8 at the CAS Nanjing Institute of Soil Sciences.
Mr. Zhang Taolin, vice governor of the Jiangsu Province, officially opened the lab and representatives from Chinese and German research institutions and universities, including those from the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, CAS, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and Institute of Plant Nutrition and Soil Sciences under the University of Kiel, attended the ceremony.
Following the opening ceremony a workshop was held, where scholars had discussions on topics like the environmental impact of agricultural soil, hydrological process and environment impact, chemistry, biology and biochemical process and environment, the response of land-use system to global change.
The Sino-German Center for Research Promotion is jointly established by NSFC and the Germany Science Foundation (DFG) with an objective of promoting various forms of bilateral cooperation and exchange in the area of natural science between Chinese and German universities and research organizations. The cooperation group seeks to function as an open platform for international cooperation and exchanges in the field as well as a network for personnel training and joint projects.
