Prof. Guo Lei, director of Institute of Systems Science (ISS), was recently appointed as the President of the CAS Academy of Mathematics and System Sciences (AMSS), a parent institution of four CAS institutes in the field of mathematics: Institute of Mathematics, Institute of Applied Mathematics, Institute of Systems Science and Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing.
Prof. Guo obtained his Ph.D in Control Theory at ISS in 1987 and conducted his Postdoc research at Australian National University from 1987 to 1989. He was elected a CAS Member in 2001 and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1998. Prof. Guo became the ISS director in 1998.
