About IHEP
IHEP is China's leading national laboratory for particle physics. Our mission is to explore the fundamental laws of the universe, from the smallest subatomic particles to the large-scale structure of the cosmos, and to translate scientific advances for the benefit of society.
IHEP operates a portfolio of world-class large-scale scientific facilities across multiple campuses.
- Yuquan Campus (Beijing): Home to the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPCII), the BESIII experiment, and the Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF).
- Huairou Campus (Beijing): Hosts the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), a 6-GeV fourth-generation synchrotron radiation light source currently under commissioning.
- Dongguan Campus (Guangdong): Operates the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), China's flagship neutron scattering research facility serving physics, chemistry, biology, and materials science disciplines.
IHEP also leads major off-site experiments including the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) in Guangdong, the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) in Sichuan, and AliCPT in Tibet.
