Scientists Seek to Safeguard Biodiversity in SW China

In a primeval forest beneath the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in southwest China's Yunnan Province, Chinese scientists have been carrying out long-term observation of the biodiversity system.

An insect research team from the Kunming Institute of Zoology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has compiled a butterfly checklist with more than 1,300 species found in southwest China's Yunnan, showcasing rich biodiversity in the province.
An allium garden in Kunming, southwest China's Yunnan Province has recently been opened to the public. And the garden marks the fifth anniversary of a joint allium research project between China and Uzbekistan. The Kunming Center of the China-Uzbekistan Global Allium Garden was launched in 2018 to collect, conserve and exhibit allium, as well as support allium research, utilization and public education. Recently, scientists from both countries gathered in the city to mark the project's fifth anniversary and discuss biodiversity protection.
