A joint China-New Zealand deep-sea expedition to explore ocean trenches 10 kilometers deep in the Pacific Ocean completed the first stage of its mission on November 27. The research vessel Tansuo-1, also known as Explorer-1, is currently moored in Auckland with the advanced Fendouzhe or Striver deep-sea manned submersible aboard. In the first stage, Fendouzhe completed 16 dives, 14 of which were to a depth of more than 6,000 meters in the first-ever large-scale manned survey at such depths in the Kermadec Trench. (CGTN)
