China's tallest tree, scientifically named Abies ernestii var. salouenensis, in Tibet Autonomous Region's Zayu County, southwest China, is 83.4 meters tall according to a Chinese scientific expedition team. The tree was found in a virgin forest in Zayu, and is estimated to be 380 years old. (CGTN)
A Chinese scientific investigation team on Sunday released the updated height of China's tallest tree as 83.4 meters, according to the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden.
A 83.2-meter-high tree has recently been found in Zayu County in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, setting a new record for the tallest tree in China, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
