Chinese and Japanese scholars meet to address issues of energy and climate change

The Third Sino-Japanese Round Table Meeting on Science and Technology was held on 9 and 10 June in Suzhou in east China's Jiangsu Province, bringing together more than 40 scholars from the two sides.


    The Third Sino-Japanese Round Table Meeting on Science and Technology was held on 9 and 10 June in Suzhou in east China's Jiangsu Province, bringing together more than 40 scholars from the two sides.

    Organized by the CAS Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics, the opening ceremony of the roundtable was chaired by CAS Vice President JIANG Mianheng. Also present at the ceremony were CAS President LU Yongxiang, CAS, former Japanese minister of education, science, sports and culture Akito Arima, and President of Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology Hiroyuki Yoshikawa.

    Under the theme of "energy conservation, emission reduction and climate change adaptation," the meeting consisted of five sessions: global climate change adaptation, policies for energy conservation and climate change, practice of enterprises for energy conservation, emission reduction and climate change adaptation, S&T cooperation in addressing energy conservation and climate change, and energy conservation and cyclic economy.

    Co-initiated in 2006 by President LU Yongxiang, Mr. Akito Arima and President Hiroyuki Yoshikawa, the roundtable aims to implement in-depth exchanges and cooperation on issues of sustainable development.
