LU: Do a better job of quake rescue and relief operations

CAS President LU Yongxiang called on scientists and technicians of the Academy to provide further S&T support to the rescue and relief operations in the quake-hit areas by giving full play to the CAS advantage in professionals, knowledge, science and technology.


    CAS President LU Yongxiang called on scientists and technicians of the Academy to provide further S&T support to the rescue and relief operations in the quake-hit areas by giving full play to the CAS advantage in professionals, knowledge, science and technology. He urged them to do a solid job of preventing and mitigating the quake-induced disasters, especially those work concerning the monitoring and evaluation of quake lakes, dredging work, epidemic control, psychological rehabilitation, scientific planning for reconstruction, so as to provide advices and technological support to central and local policy makers. In addition, research projects should be arranged for natural disaster forecasting and early-warning, post-disaster evaluation and rebuilding.
