CAS President LU Yongxiang and his party paid a visit to Cuba, Canada and US from 20 to 31 May.
At the invitation of Cuba's Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE), President Lu visited the Cuba Center of Molecular Immunology, the National Center for Laboratory Animal Production, Research Center for Neuroscience and the University of Information Science and Technology. He also met with high-ranking government officials including MOSTE Minister Fernando Gonzalez Bermudez, and signed agreements on S&T cooperation between the two sides.
During his stay in Canada, Prof. Lu held discussions with heads of International. Trade Canada and Foreign Affairs Canada, Ministry of Natural Resources, and National Research Council respectively on such issues as cooperation on technology transfer and sustainable development between the two sides. He also witnessed the signing of an MOU on cooperation between CAS and Ministry of Natural Resources of Canada.
In US, Prof. Lu visited Columbia University and met with Chinese scholars conducting studies there. He also received an honorary doctoral degree from University of Minnesota.
