UNEP sets up a POPs laboratory at CAS

Nov 01, 2006

The United National Environment Planning (UNEP) has recently set up a demonstration laboratory for persistent organic pollutants (POPs) monitoring at the CAS Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES). Its opening ceremony was held on Oct. 26 at RCEES in Beijing. Scientific Affairs Officer from UNEP Chemicals Dr. H. Fiedler and officials from the State Environmental Protection Administration were present at the ceremony. It is expected that the lab will help China to raise its basic research and monitoring level of POPs and to fulfill its obligations of the Stockholm Convention.
