Her Royal Highness (HRH) Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS) Yuquanlu campus on April 6th where she attended the renewal signing ceremony of the Memo of Understanding (MOU) between GUCAS and the Thailand Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC). This is the third visit by HRH Princess Sirindhorn to GUCAS.

Prof. DENG Yong, executive vice president of GUCAS and vice secretary-general noted that the total number of Thai students at GUCAS has increased and their majors have become more diverse since HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s first visit to GUCAS in 2005. He also emphasized that GUCAS wishes to enhance its cooperation with the government of Thailand. Princess Sirindhorn said she will urge the OCSC to select and send more outstanding students to GUCAS.

Prof. ZHU Xiangbin, assistant president of GUCAS and Mr. Nontigorn Kanchanachitra, secretary general of the OCSC, signed the MOU on behalf of both parties. According to the GUCAS-OCSC MOU, the GUCAS-Royal Thailand Government Scholarship has been established to support Thailand students pursuing graduate research at GUCAS. There have been 11 Thai students at GUCAS thus far , studying at such research institutes as the Dalian Institute of Chemistry & Physics of CAS, the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of CAS and the Institute of Metal Research of CAS.

Following the ceremony, HRH Princess Sirindhorn visited the BEPCII Laboratory of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
