Tribology of Composite Materials, of which the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), CAS, contributed the sixth chapter, was published by the Nova Science Publishers in December, 2010.
The book has 8 chapters and mainly introduces the tribological study (friction and wear performance and wear mechanism) of composite materials.
The title of the chapter contributed by the LICP is Friction and Wear of Al2O3-Ni Composite. It was written at the invitation of Prof. J. Paulo Davim of the University of Aveiro by Prof. LU Jinjun, Prof. WANG Jingbo, Prof. YANG Shengrong and associate Prof. MENG Junhu of the LICP and Prof. LIU Bin of the Stomatological Hospital of the Lanzhou University.
The chapter introduces the preparation technique of Al2O3-Ni composite materials, comparatively invesigate the friction and wear properties of Al2O3 ceramics and Al2O3-Ni composite materials. It is found that Al2O3-Ni composite materials possess better friction and wear properties. And the formation and removal of the tribo-layer directly influence the friction and wear properties of Al2O3 ceramics and Al2O3-Ni composite materials.
