This year is the 60th Anniversary of the founding of DICP, and a series of academic activities are being organized to cerebrate this occasion. Among them are a number of invited ZHANG Da-yu Chair lectures to be delivered by prominent scientists of the world. Prof. ZHANG Da-yu was a famous pioneering catalytic scientist in China, and was the first Director of DICP. Prof. Avelino Corma Canós of Valencia University, Spain, was invited to deliver the first Chair Lecture on 27th March.
The lecture was chaired by Prof. LI Can, Vice-Director of DICP and Member of CAS. Prof. ZHANG Tao, Director of DICP, Prof. LIU Zhongmin, Vice-Director of DICP, and about 200 DICP researchers and graduate students attended the lecture.
Prof. Canós is a famous scientist in the fields of materials science and heterogeneous catalysis. He is at present Chairman of International Molecular Sieve Society and Vice-Chairman of International Catalysis Conference Committee. He was awarded with many high level prizes, such as the F. Ciapetta Award and the Eugene J. Houdry Award of North America Catalytic Society, the Breck Award of International Molecular Sieve Society, the Gold Medal Award of the Spanish Chemical Society, etc. In his lecture with the title of "Designing of Molecular Sieves, and their Adsorption and Catalysis", Prof. Canós introduced the newest progresses in the R&D of molecular sieves. After the lecture, Prof. ZHANG Tao presented a ZHANG Da-yu Chair Lecture Certificate in memory of the 60th Anniversary of DICP to Prof. Canós.
