The Forum was convened from 29th to 30th of November. It was chaired by Prof. YANG Shengli and Prof. ZHANG Yukui, both Members of CAS. Prof. LU Peizhang, Member of CAS, was the Honorary Chairman, and Prof. XU Guowang was the Acting Chairman. About 50 scholars coming from China and abroad attended the Forum.
Prof. ZHANG Tao, Director of DICP, extended warm welcome to the participating scientists in his opening ceremony address. He highly esteemed the holding of the Forum. Then, Prof. LU Peizhang and Prof. ZHANG Yukui gave talks to retrospect the developing course of the science of separation and analysis, and its promoting effect on the emerging of the various genomics.
24 scholars from the States, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, South Korea and Georgia were invited to give topic lectures. Prof. ZHANG Yukui, Prof. XU Guowang, Prof. XIAO Hongbin and Associate Prof. ZHANG Feifang of DICP also delivered presentations. The lectures and presentations covered the newest progresses in techniques, theories and applications of the separation and analysis science basing on mass spectroscopy and chromatography, especially on the areas of metabolics, proteomic and lipidomics. Applications of metabolics and proteomics in investigations of key diseases and traditional Chinese medicines were treated as key topics in this Forum.
The participants were also invited to tour the relevant laboratories of the Bio-Tech Division of DICP. The Forum was supported by the Agilent Co. of USA.
