
He Yizhen (Ho I-Djen, 1910-2008), pioneer of China's amorphous physics and metal glass studies, died on 31 July in Beijing at age of 98.
After being graduated from Ginling College in Nanjing in 1930, He received her Master of Science and PhD in Mt. Holyoke College in 1931 and University of Michigan in 1937, respectively. In 1952, she joined hands with her husband GE Tingsui (T..S. Ke, 1913-2000) in founding the CAS Institute of Metal Research in Shenyang. In 1982, she went to Hefei to take part in the establishment of the CAS Institute of Solid State Physics.
