CAS astronomer honored with Doornbos prize
Together with two colleagues from Europe and US, Dr. LI Ligang from the CAS Shanghai Astronomical Observatory has been awarded the Doornbos Memorial Prize for his outstanding contributions to the studies of thermal convection inside the earth and a planet, dynamo theory, and simulation.
The decision was made at the symposium of the Committee on Studies of the Earth's Deep Interior (SEDI) held from 26 to 31 in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The award, which is in honor of the Dutch seismologist Durk Doornbos, is designed to recognize young scientists for their outstanding work on the Earth's deep interior. This is the first time for a Chinese scholar to win the prize.
