An agreement was stricken to jointly carry out studies on particle astrophysics during a recent meeting between Director-general of the National Astronomical Observatories at CAS (NAOC) YAN Jun and his counterpart at the CAS Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) CHEN Hesheng.
Particle astrophysics constitutes a common frontier of particle physics and astrophysics, which is to address a major challenge of the new century -- searching for dark material and dark energy, says Prof. Chen Hesheng. This disciplinary perspective provides an ideal setting for the cooperation between the two sides to carry out interdisciplinary studies in the field.
The two leaders talked about the possible collaboration on the telescope project at Dome A in Antarctica and 21 Centimeter Array (21CMA) project, reaching a consensus on a wide range of issues of common interest.
