With a joint investment of 44 million yuan from CAS and Jiangsu Province, the Nanjing Paleontology Museum opened on a trial basis on the New Year's Eve.
As one of the largest paleontological museums in the world, the new museum in Nanjing is known for its rich fossil collections in invertebrate paleontology, paleonbotany and micropaleontology. The specimens of Changjiang Fauna and Jehol Biota housed by the museum are especially precious. Its theme exhibition and 14 special ones tell a vivid story about the evolution of earth and life.
The museum is well received by the public. It attracted more than 10,000 visitors in the first three days after tthe opening.
