Panel gives the green light to plan for State Key Laboratory of Lithosphere Evolution
A panel of experts recently ratifies a proposal submitted by the CAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG) for the development of the State Key Laboratory of Lithosphere Evolution.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the panel was headed by CAS member Zhang Guowei of Northwest University and consisted of experts from universities, research institutes, and the National Natural Sciences Foundation.
After listening to the report on the development plan delivered by lab head Zhu Rixiang, the panel made a visit and discussions. The panel came to a consensus that the laboratory, with its focus on the interaction among the various lithospheres deep in the earth, would make systematic analyses on the composition, structure, formation mechanism, and evolution process of the lithospheres of the continents.
