Blossoming sorrowless trees

    Ashoka or sorrowless trees (Saraca indica), which are regarded very sacred in Buddhism, are a precious ornamental. Botanists from the CAS South China Botanical Garden started to breed the tree with seeds from India as early as in the 1950s. Their efforts have paid off as a lush growth of the trees now is seen at the Garden.
