Under the auspices of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), a four-member panel recently made the assessment of the Laboratory of France-China for Catalysis (LFCC) at the CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP).
Headed by Mr. Claude Trink, an assessment expert from CNRS, the panel was composed of Dr. Marie-Pierre van Hoecke, Officer of the Science & Technology Cooperation Office of French Embassy to China and a representative of CNRS, Mr. Frederic Beraha, Cultural Attache of French Embassy to China, and Mr. Christophe Dreyer, Director of French Language Union of Dalian.
Prof. Bao Xinhe, Director of DICP, briefed to the French guests on the research programs and international cooperation of his institute. Prof. Li Can, a CAS Member and Co-Director (China) of LFCC, reported French experts on the LFCC research progress.
After the visit, the panel spoke highly of the achievements made by LFCC over its first term of four years (2000-2004), hailing it as an exemplary France-China cooperation program. In view of the outstanding performance, CAS and NRCF have decided to renew the cooperation contract for another four years.
The lab was created in line with an agreement between CAS, NRCR and the Total R&D Group signed on 20 March 2000 by CAS President Lu Yongxiang, then NRCF General Director Catherine Brechignac and Scientific Director of Elf Aquitaine Claude Jablon.
