CAS Deputy President Bai Chunli met on March 15 in Beijing with executives of the International SKA Steering Committee (ISSC), who are convening in China for the 13th ISSC meeting, which will be held from March 16 to 20 in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.
The Square Kilometer Array (SKA) is a large-scale international cooperation program under the coordination of the Megascienced Forum (MSF) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Guiyang has been proposed to the Site Evaluation and Selection Committee as a potential SKA site, and where a five hundred meter aperture spherical telescope (FAST) will be built as a National Megascience project.
Also present at the meeting were CAS Secretary-general Li Zhigang, CAS Vice Secretary-general Guo Huadong and Director of CAS Bureau of Basic Science Zhang Jie.
