Under the joint support of CAS and Yunnan Province, researchers of the CAS Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) have set up China's first tropical wild plant garden in southwest Yunnan Province.
With a total area of two hectares, the garden is located at southeast fringe of a tropical forest of XTBG. The garden is divided into four sections. Plants in each section are featured with their flowers, fruits, leaves and shapes, respectively. At present the garden now is home to approximately 200 species in 65 families originating from southeast part of the province. They are valuable both for germ plasma conservation, scientific research, popular science, and tourism.
