On June 12, State Councilor Chen Zhili made an inspection tour of the CAS Institute of Geochemistry in Guiyang, capital city of southwest China's Guizhou Province.
Guided by Prof. Liu Congqiang, director of the institute, Chen visited research facilities of the institute, including the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Geochemistry and CAS Key Laboratory of Ore Deposit Geochemistry.
After listening to a report on the institute's education programs, the State Councilor pointed out that CAS, the national top research center, should also be an important training base for high-level professionals. She urged the institute to make further contributions to the national campaign of bringing up more high-level talents with applicable technologies.
As a national training center in the fields of resources and environment sciences, the institute is among the first institutions approved by the education authorities to set up graduate and postdoc programs. So far more than 300 people have obtained their PhD or master's degrees from these programs.
