Entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the General Office of CAS Academic Divisions hosted a forum on intensifying the construction of the national S&T infrastructural platform on February 27, 2003 in Beijing.
At the meeting, MOST vice minister Liu Yanhua briefed CAS members on the outline of the construction program. The participants were engaged in warm and far-reaching discussions. All agreed that the program was important and that it involved deep-imbedded institutional issues like talents, policies and the S&T evaluation system. They expressed the wish to advance the program through law-making.
The CAS Academic Divisions plan to arrange more forums to solicit opinions and advice from CAS members on the program.
