Satellite for "Double Star" leaves factory
The Satellite "TC-1" for the Double Star Program, an ESA-China scientific collaboration initiative, and its launch vehicle have been allowed to leave the manufacturing bases and on their way to the lunch pad after getting the green light from a panel meeting on Nov. 20 in Beijing.
The panel is composed of high-ranking officials and experts from the State Commission of Science and Technology for National Defense, General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army, China Aero-Space Science and Technology Group and CAS.
After listening to the reports from the five subsystems of the mission, including satellite, rocket, application, measurement and control, and launching, the panel concluded that the research and manufacturing tasks for the satellite and vehicle have been successfully completed.
CAS Assistant President Cao Jianlin, Executive Vice Director of the CAS Center for Space Science and Applied Research Wu Ji, and Chief Scientist of the Double Star Program Liu Zhenxing were among the participants of the meeting.
