Project of innovative drugs passes mid-term evaluation
A meeting on the mid-term evaluation of a CAS major research project, titled research and development of innovative drugs and a drug innovation system, was held on Oct. 31 in Shanghai. Vice CAS President Chen Zhu attended the conference.
The project is being carried out by a research team composed of researchers from 15 institutions. Headed by CAS Member Chen Kaixian, director of CAS Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, the research is focused on the following aspects: new mechanism and targets of drug actions, new screening models and high-throughput screening techniques, phytochemical engineering, bioinformatics and drug molecular design, combinatorial chemistry, and clinical studies of several drug candidates and their commercialization.
