At the invitation of Institute of Electronics, Prof. XU Yongping with National University of Singapore paid a visit to System on Programmable Chip Research Departement for academic exchange and communication through November 11 to 13, 2010.

Prof. XU gave a seminar on "Multi-bit Sigma-Delta Modulator with Noise Shaping DAC” about his latest research work and an overview of the frontier development in the field of microelectronics. XU proposed a new noise shaping DEM (NS-DEM) technique in an attempt to eliminate the trade-off between the SFDR and SNR of the ΔΣM with the existing DEM in the seminar. Unlike most existing DEMs trading SNR for SFDR, the proposed technique improves both SFDR and SNR.

The seminar served as an eye-opener for the researchers and enabled them to closely keep pace with the latest development in the microelectronics field. Meanwhile, the researchers also took the opportunity to have a discussion on the next-step cooperation between IECAS and NUS.
