China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, has identified 93 new pulsars since October 2017, the research team announced Friday. Since the first time FAST reported it had found pulsars in October 2017, the telescope has already detected 132 promising pulsar candidates, 93 of them had been confirmed, the research team said.

Two satellites for technological experiments were sent into space by a Kuaizhou-1A, or KZ-1A, carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China on Saturday. The rocket blasted off at 7:41 am and sent the two satellites into their planned orbit.

Scientists in southwest China's Yunnan Province said on Monday they have discovered a new species of begonia in the city of Pu'er. The species was named "Begonia austroyunnanensis" by researchers with the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Astrophysicists have discovered that the pulsar wind nebula (PWN) surrounding the famous pulsar B0540-69 brightened gradually after the pulsar experienced a sudden spin-down rate transition (SRT). Satellite orbit has been determined autonomously within 10 km (3σ) by observing an X-ray pulsar with the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) satellite, according to a study by Chinese scientists just published in the Astrophysical Journal Supplement. Chinese scientists announced Wednesday that they had developed a portable mass spectrometer for rapid on-site detection of drug mixtures. The 13-kg gadget is 32 cm long, 32 cm wide and 24 cm tall, and has built-in batteries which can be used for three hours of field operation.
