As a member of the Legume Phylogeny Working Group (LPWG), Prof. YI Tingshuang from Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences participated in proposing a new community-endorsed classification of the Leguminosae which recognised six subfamilies: a recircumscribed Caesalpinioideae DC., Cercidoideae LPWG, Detarioideae Burmeist., Dialioideae LPWG, Duparquetioideae LPWG, and Papilionoideae DC.
Recently, researchers at the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture of Chinese Academy of Sciences investigated the free-living N2 fixation (FNF) in soil and litter in three dominant shrublands (i.e., Pterolobium punctatum, Vitex negundo and Rhus chinensis) in a karst catchment, Southwest China.
