BEIJING – The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced today the election of 73 new Members. The distribution of newly elected Members across Academic Divisions is:
Division of Mathematics and Physics: 14
Division of Chemistry: 11
Division of Life Sciences and Medicine: 13
Division of Earth Sciences: 9
Division of Information Technical Sciences: 11
Division of Technological Sciences: 15
The election brings the total number of CAS Members to 908.
CAS also announced the election of 27 new Foreign Members from 15 countries. This brings the total number of CAS Foreign Members to 173.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences and The Chinese Academy of Engineering is holding a four-day conference in Beijing.
BAI Chunli, President of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is elected Foreign Honorary Member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AMACAD), announced AMACAD on April 20, 2016. AMACAD adopts 213 new members this year. 37 from 17 countries such as China, Russia, South Africa and Israel are included, adding the number of Foreign Honorary Members to 623 by far.
