​China has made a significant breakthrough in building a high-speed "data highway" between satellites and the ground. According to the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a new-generation high-throughput satellite-to-ground data transmission system has been successfully tested, an official announcement showed on Monday.

Day and night, huge volumes of data pours into China's satellite ground stations, which serve as space-ground information ports. China's remote sensing satellite ground stations play an important role in advancing scientific research and supporting industrial applications.

China has successfully established an integrated satellite data processing network with Beijing its operation management and data processing headquarters, alongside five support stations, after more than 30 years of development, according to the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences on Wednesday.
