Project on Robot Technology in Extreme Environments Kicks Off

Dec 03, 2020

A team of researchers from the Institute of Intelligent Machines of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science announced a new project recently to meet the needs for the deployment of robot technology in extreme environments.

The project, named "Basic Theory and Key Technology of the Extreme Perception and Operational Robots", focuses on four major aspects including extreme perception system, bionic motion system, multi-mechanism coordination, and battlefield situation understanding. Some key technologies, such as biomimetic mechanisms, human-robot interaction, will be applied.

"We hope to realize the in-depth integration and development of the superior teams working on robotics, advanced sensing, unmanned driving, intelligent control, and human-robot interaction in the next 5-10 years,” said Prof. XU, leader of this project.

Related research fields have been gaining attention in recent years. This program offers a good chance for researchers to exchange experience and condense the research direction.
