Scientists Discuss Nanomaterial Safety

Over 600 nanotechnology scientists from more than 30 countries and regions around the world gathered in Beijing on Wednesday to attend an international conference on nanomaterial safety.

The scientists will discuss issues about nanotoxicology, nanomedicine, nanobiotechnology as well as ethical, legal and social issues related to nanotechnology at the four-day 6th International Conference on Nanotoxicology.

China was among the earliest countries to conduct nanotoxicology research, and there are currently more than 40 institutions across the country conducting research, analysis and testing related to nanomaterial safety and its possible impacts on the environment and people's health.

It was the first time for this conference to be held in an Asian country. (Xinhua)
