CAS has established 10 overseas science and education cooperation centers to carry out in-depth cooperation in science and education with countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Specifically, these centers aim to strengthen international scientific and technological cooperation, cultivate internationalized talent, and enhance innovative capacity.
Through scientific research, technology transfer, talent training, and academic exchange, the centers will serve national strategy, promote global scientific and technological development, and enhance scientific and humanistic exchange between China and foreign countries.
CAS launched its international exchange initiative the CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) in 2009. This initiative aims to promote communication between worldwide researchers and CAS by funding outstanding foreign scientists to conduct substantive scientific and technological collaboration with CAS.
The PIFI program has developed its own funding system that features flexible durations and covers candidates with varying levels of qualifications and achievements. It is open to scientific research personnel ranging from Nobel laureates to master’s degree candidates and offers fellowships for their training programs, academic visits, and full-time employment.
The Award for International Scientific Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), established in 2007, commends and rewards high-level international experts in technology and management who have made outstanding contributions to the international scientific and technological cooperation of CAS.
