DENG Maicun

DENG Maicun, a professor of chemical engineering, now is the Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

DENG was born in 1959 in Hubei Province, and got his MS degree in 1985 at the CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) and then worked as an associate research at the institute. He spent one and a half year from 1987 to 1988 as a visiting scholar at Laden University, the Netherlands.

In 1997 and 1998, he was promoted to be Deputy Director and Director of DICP. He has been the Deputy Secretary-General of CAS and Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Membrane Technology since the year of 2000. DENG has also been Chief Executive Director, Vice President and President of the CAS Holdings Co., Ltd since 2008.
