TIB Hosts Third International Training Course on Industrial Synthetic Biotechnology
The Third International Training Course on Industrial Synthetic Biotechnology (ITC-ISB) was held from December 12 to 23, 2022 in Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Nearly sixty scholars in the field of biotechnology from thirteen developing countries along the Belt and Road such as Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria and Bangladesh participated in the training course.
The Third ITC-ISB focuses on the theory, practice and application of the industrial synthetic biotechnology. During the keynote speech, the scholars introduced the connotations of the industrial biotechnology and synthetic biology and illustrated its supporting role in the Sustainable Development Goals. They also introduced the frontier technology in biomedicine, bio-agriculture, future food, bio-chemicals, bio-based materials and bioenergy, respectively, and demonstrated the enabling technologies in automated genome engineering, systems biology, design of metabolic pathways, etc.
The Third ITC-ISB was hosted by TIB, the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) and the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), organized by COMSATS Joint Center for Industrial Biotechnology (CCIB) with the support of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People′s Republic of China, CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence for Biotechnology, Innovation Cooperation Center (Bangkok), CAS and Tianjin Biotechnology Innovation and Development Co., Ltd.
