In September 2017, Steady High Magnetic Field Facility (SHMFF) passed national acceptance and started its formal run.

The facility with world's only scanning tunneling microscope system usable in water-cooled magnets, built by Hefei Institutes of Physical Sciences, has become a core foundation of Hefei Science Center and an important part of the China’s innovation system of science and technology.
