China's First Heavy-ion Accelerator for Cancer Treatment
Institute of Modern Physics
China’s first medical heavy-ion accelerator, with independent intellectual property rights, was developed by the Institute of Modern Physics and its subordinate company. It was approved for marketing on Sept. 29, 2019 and put into clinical use in March 2020.
As of now, over one thousand patients have been treated with this accelerator and the therapeutic effects have generated positive social impact and economic benefits.
In addition, based on market demand and technological development, the institute is actively developing new generation ion radiotherapy equipment, focusing on smaller size, higher performance, and lower cost.
