China’s First Lithium Battery
Institute of Physics
In 1978, the Institute of Physics established China’s first solid-state ionics laboratory.
It was the first to carry out research on lithium batteries and related materials in the country. It developed lithium-ion battery technology and solved the scientific and engineering problems related to mass production of lithium-ion batteries.
The institute developed China’s first lithium battery, built the country’s first lithium-ion battery pilot production line, and pioneered China’s lithium battery industry.
